Captain Game

We all know that the game Gin Rummy can be played with any number of players from two to eight. Now when the game is played with odd number of players like three, seven or five; then the game is called Captain Game.

Now when the number of players in the game is three then the game is played lie that of singles contest. and each player is allowed to cut the deck; and the player getting the highest card is the captain for the game. The captain for the game plays against the other two player. The player drawing the second highest card is stars playing against the Captain for his team. and the player continues playing for his team until he loses his hand, once the player has lost his hand then his partner will play the following hand until he loses. This alternate course of action is continued for whole the game until the game is over.

Scoring in the Captains game is analogous to that of in the individual game excluding for that the captain is playing for the double amount. If the Captain loses then he/she has to pay the two opponents equal amount individually, and when he/she wins he/she receives the same from the two opponents individually. as far as more than single game is played, the normal process is that the player cutting the second highest card is made the next captain, and the previous partner plays the first hand against him/her. In the next set, the third player becomes the captain and the process continues.

Now if the number of players is five then five cards are drawn from the deck two red and three black cards including an ace. and the players are made to choose from them randomly the players picking up the red cards are the two captains in the game and the player picking up two black cards other then ace are the two opponents and the player picking up the ace sits out of the first hand. and the player sitting out is out of the game as long as their partner wins their hand, when the Captain wins the hand the player sitting out side can replace the player losing the game with maximum points. If the two opponent’s ends up a hand losing and the point for both of them are equal then the cards are cut from the deck and the player cutting the lowest card is replaced by the payer sitting outside. In the captain game the captains can choose the place for sitting according to them and are always dealt the first on the opening hand.

If the number of players playing the game becomes then the process to choose captains and the opponents is carried out in the similar manner as in case of five players. Except that this time seven cards are drawn from the deck; three red and four black, include a black ace. and else the game is totally similar to that in case of five players; the player choosing ace sits out of the game and replaces the player losing the hand with maximum points. The distribution of the wining amount takes place in an appropriate ratio.
